Woman technology and education
Generally speaking, in many technology companies, the number of men is much higher than women. If you think this is just a general observation and not rigorous, you may wish to look at the research of the Asian Development Bank. Statistics show that the average number of women in the Asia-Pacific region is 70% less than that of men.
As the times continue to advance and information technology becomes more important in all walks of life, women are still at a significant disadvantage in education and the workplace. This means that a large number of female populations have missed the key computer skills required for further studies and career advancement. More importantly, the lack of these skills and ideas has occurred to the next generation of mothers and has a profound impact on further education of teenager.
Programming is the core of the advancement of science and technology, and the interesting thing is that the concept of programming actually came from women.
Ada Lovelace, often referred to as the world’s first computer programmer, wrote the world’s first machine algorithm in 1842 for the prototype concept of today’s computers—Charles Babbage’s analysis machine. She is very visionary, pointing out that numbers are not only used to represent quantities, but also that machines can be used for calculations, these two concepts across time.
This is just one of the most typical examples, but definitely not the only one. In fact, many technological revolutions come from women, such as program-controlled telephone exchange system software, network self-organization, and basic protocols for data exchange. Even the word “debug” is created and popularized by female technicians. (It is said that she got a bug out of the computer at that time!).
All this shows that women never lack creativity when compared with men. Many doctors from Auckland University of Technology called AUT are proof of this conclusion. They will share their academic and even life experience to help other AUT women become better and attain the status they deserve in the technical world.
